Anna Sui Resort 2010 just in

Anna Sui's Resort Collection arrived last week. We have the blouse version of this leopard print dress in the store. We would pair it with black or dark blue jeans and heels for a holiday party. To dress it down for everyday we'd wear it with leggings and a long cardigan. It's made of a silky jersey knit, so you know it will be comfy. Add a pop of color to your winter blahs.

Up close and personal

We're off to New York at the end of the week to see a handful of collections in person. Just off the runway are these looks by Anna Sui. We'll be looking for more separates and knits for the Spring and Summer seasons. Lately we've been thinking a lot about the Anna Sui Butterfly tunic for Fall. Having this vibrant piece now is assurance that you won't be feeling the winter blahs in the months to come. We love it under a leather bomber or motocycle jacket with jeans, and if you're petite, you can get away with wearing it as a dress with super high loafer wedges. If you feel like there's too much volume on top, it looks really fantastic with one of our Ada leather wrap belts. Start planning your Fall and Winter wardrobe, and include lots of color!

Freshen up that black tee

We found a great way to freshen up your basic black tee. For the rest of Summer and beginning of Fall try wearing your boyfriend's black tee tucked into a cute little mini skirt like Ingrid (above). Enter Anna Sui

We love Anna Sui's designs. Her prints, fabrics, cuts and detailing are truly amazing. Her clothes are definitely one of a kind. For Spring and Summer we've brought in lots of dresses, tunics and blouses. We even have a cute drawstring mini skirt in khaki. However, we also have cotton t-shirts. This really excites us. True to form, they are appliquéd, embroidered, and pom-pomed out! The best part is their price! For a bit of luxury treat yourself and enter into the world of Anna Sui!

Just in: Anna Sui Spring group 3

Happy Friday everyone! Yesterday 3 new Anna Sui Spring pieces arrived. In the group are the Constellation dress (pictured), Ombre Violets dress, and the Circle Venise tee in black. We love the black, cream, violet and royal blue colors of the group, really rich for late Spring and early Summer.
Also, we're making great progress on the Menlo Park space and are on time for its late May opening. Have a great weekend!

How to wear bold prints

Here at Josef we love bold prints and color because they set us apart in a sea of neutrals and solids. For beginners we suggest a printed accessory such as a scarf, headband, or small clutch. Try only one print at a time. To work wear a silk or cotton scarf around your neck with jeans or trousers and a solid top. Something like the Paul & Joe Sister Zeph Sweater is very easy to accessorize with print.

If you'd like to take prints one step further, we suggest wearing a printed blouse. Prints are more effortless than you think. Wear the printed blouse with your favorite pair of jeans or tucked in or out of a skirt or pair of pants. If it's a little bit chilly, throw on a thin knit cardigan in a complimentary color or pick a color from the print itself. One of our favorite printed blouses that we're obsessing over is the Anna Sui Butterfly Tunic.

The next step to wearing prints is putting together an entire printed outfit. Impossible? Never. It's actually the easiest way to wear prints if you think about a dress as an outfit. It's true. A printed dress can be paired with flats, sandals, pumps, and boots. In the winter wear a cardigan and jacket over the dress and in the summer wear the dress with a leather jacket or fine knit sweater. Like we said before, we're all about the prints here and we're loving the Yoana Baraschi Poppy Field dress. So try a little print in tomorrow's outfit. We're sure it'll add a little spring to your step. Happy Monday everyone!

Dressing for warm weather

With the warm weather in full effect, we wanted to share some summer dressing tips to keep you cool and looking stylish. If you're in an office, a summery skirt made of linen or cotton in khaki or navy will do the trick. We like full minis and straight pencil cuts for skirts. To complement your skirt, invest in an embroidered or floral tunic blouse and wear it tucked in or out. For more casual occasions try a sleek pair of skinny jeans and a perfectly relaxed fitting t-shirt. Embellish the casual outfit with a stack of bracelets, thread or metal, your favorite pair of sunglasses, and studded or metallic sandals. On those really hot days, your best bet is a knee skimming, thin-strap sundress or a mini sheath style dress. You can wear either dress with ankle wrap platform espadrilles - they're our latest obsession. The outfits in this post would also make a very good mini wardrobe for a spring or summer excursion to a destination of your choice. (We're thinking Barcelona!)

Our Spring collection of Anna Sui is still going strong. Today we got in a peacock inspired sleeveless dress, colorblock tank top and a drawstring hemmed khaki mini skirt in silk. Anna describes her collection the best:
My collection this season is inspired by the work of mid-twentieth century American textile designer, Alexander Girard (1907-1993). I love the way Girard always found inspiration in the traditional folk arts of the world and interpreted their whimsy into charming- yet totally modern designs, patterns and graphics. The look for Spring 2009 is sunny and optimistic. The theme is summer vacations to warm-weather holiday locations; Mexico, Egypt, Spain.

Spring deliveries made their way to the shop today. It was quite a busy day receiving deliveries from Paul & Joe Sister, Catherine Holstein, Anna Sui and Yoana Baraschi. Josef behind the scenes

Happy Monday everyone. Over the weekend we had another photo shoot for our Anna Sui and Twinkle by Wenlan Spring Collections and now they are up on our site! We added 4 new Twinkle pieces and 6 new Anna Sui Pieces. If you're a prints girl, you'll love them all as we do. Or, if you're looking for 1 special piece for the season, we're sure you'll find something from our new offering. They all are made of fun and flowy fabric, and the tops look great with dark or faded jeans. We can't wait for the weather to heat up, these pieces are the perfect addition to a warm weather wardrobe!

Anna Sui resort, group 3

Just in at Josef is Anna Sui's third of three resort collection groups. Included are the embroidered pansies dress, mixed print blouse and geo patchwork top. The pansies dress (left) has wonderful batwing sleeves, while the mixed print blouse (center) has a keyhole back and defined waistband. The geo patchwork blouse (right) has fabric applique creating the geometric design that reminds us of exquisite quilt work. They just arrived yesterday, so be the first to own one of these amazing pieces!

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were filled with lots of love and laughs. As we embark on our own adventures of the new year, I wish you all best for a fresh start. What better way to start the new year than planning a mini wardrobe makeover. In with the new and out with the old! Even though it might sound cliche, your outside does really affect the way you feel about yourself. So my challenge for you is to treat yourself well - you deserve it. Of course this doesn't mean blow your savings on things you don't need, but it does mean treat yourself to some finer things once in a while.

Anna Sui dress. wear it now and then in spring

Isn't this dress a beyoot? It's part of Anna Sui's Resort 09 collection. You might think it's a little too chilly out there to wear it now, but anything's possible in the name of fashion. For winter layering is key. Start with black leggings. Then in this order pile on the clothes: short silk slip, black cashmere turtleneck sweater, the dress, warm socks, black motorcycle knee boots, and finally your winter wool coat.

My first shipment of Anna Sui arrived at the store today. It's super exciting. Among the new pieces are a tunic, jersey dress, and a special chiffon party dress.
